PDF Watermark
Add a draft label, ownership credit or logo to your PDF. Preview the actual watermark, choose the pages it belongs on, and keep the document’s existing text and images.
1. Open a PDF
One static PDF, up to 20 MiB and 200 pages. Encrypted, signed and form PDFs are unsupported.
No PDF loaded.

2. Design your watermark
No logo selected. PNG, JPG or WebP, up to 8 MiB, 4096 pixels per edge and 8 megapixels. Transparent PNG works best.
One line of text. PDF standard fonts support Latin lettering; unsupported characters receive a clear error. Use a logo image for other lettering.

Using PDF Watermark
Add visible text or a logo to selected PDF pages, with a local preview and a downloadable PDF.
- Open one static, unencrypted PDF up to 20 MiB and 200 pages. Forms, signed documents and custom PDF page units are unsupported.
- Choose text or a local PNG, JPG or WebP logo. Adjust size, opacity, rotation, position and an optional repeating pattern.
- Leave the range blank for all pages or enter ranges such as 1-3, 5. Use the odd/even filter and review selected and unselected pages.
- Create the PDF, compare the saved output with the original and download. Changes to watermark settings invalidate an older result.
Example
Apply DRAFT at 25% opacity to pages 1-4 with the Even pages filter. Only pages 2 and 4 receive the watermark. The other pages retain their original content.
Questions & answers
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. PDF processing, logo conversion, preview and download run locally in your browser using libraries served by this website.
Will the original text remain searchable?
Yes. The watermark is added over existing page content; the tool does not turn whole pages into images. Existing text and images remain in the PDF.
Can I use a transparent logo?
Yes. Choose a PNG with transparency for the cleanest result. JPG and WebP logos are converted to PNG locally. Logos are limited to 8 MiB, 4,096 pixels per edge and 8 million pixels.
Which characters work in text watermarks?
The available PDF standard fonts support Latin lettering. Unsupported characters produce an error instead of being silently replaced. Use a logo image containing your lettering for other scripts.
How are rotated pages handled?
Placement follows the visible page after its PDF rotation and crop. The watermark is sized relative to that page, so mixed page sizes may have differently sized marks. Custom positions are kept within the chosen margins.
Does watermarking protect or redact a PDF?
No. A visible watermark labels content but does not prevent copying, editing or removal. It is not redaction and does not remove sensitive text underneath.
What happens to forms, signatures and passwords?
Encrypted PDFs, form PDFs and documents containing signature-related data are rejected. Use an unsigned static copy when watermarking is appropriate.
Are links and bookmarks retained?
The tool edits the source document instead of rebuilding its pages as images. Existing links, bookmarks and document content are retained where supported. Preview shows page artwork and may omit interactive annotations. Always review the downloaded PDF.
Why does a repeating pattern fail?
Very dense patterns are limited to 200 marks per page and 20,000 per document to keep processing bounded. Increase size or spacing, or choose fewer pages. Output is limited to 50 MiB.
