Object key order is ignored. Arrays compare by index; moves are not inferred. Numbers compare by their original spelling, so 1 and 1.0 differ. Duplicate keys are rejected.

Using JSON Compare

Compare two JSON documents by keys and array positions. Find added, removed and changed values with JSON Pointer paths while preserving exact numeric literals.

  1. Paste your input, open a UTF-8 file or load the example.
  2. Click Compare JSON and inspect the result.
  3. Read the status and limitations, then copy or download the output.

Example

{"id":9007199254740993,"profile":{"name":"Alex"},"tags":["web"]}
Object key order is ignored. Arrays compare by index; moves are not inferred. Numbers compare by their original spelling, so 1 and 1.0 differ. Duplicate keys are rejected.

Questions & answers

How is this different from Text Compare?

It compares JSON structure rather than text lines. Whitespace and object-key order do not create differences; array order remains significant.

Are large integers rounded?

No. Numeric literal spellings are retained. Consequently 1, 1.0 and 1e0 count as different even though some applications interpret them as the same value.

What does the path mean?

Paths use JSON Pointer: /profile/name identifies the name member in profile. Slash and tilde inside keys are escaped as ~1 and ~0. The empty path represents the root value.

What limits apply?

Each input allows 250,000 characters, 20,000 values and 64 nested containers. Duplicate keys are rejected. More than 1,000 differences causes an error instead of a partial report. The download is a comparison report, not a JSON Patch.
