Questions & answers
Is this a full EPUB reading system?
No. It extracts text from supported primary XHTML chapters. It does not reproduce book styles, images, links, annotations, page numbers or interactive features. It is a plain reader and text-export workflow.
How is chapter order chosen?
The first supported package’s spine gives the primary reading order. Entries marked linear=no are omitted. Non-XHTML primary items are reported as skipped. Multiple renditions use the first supported package only.
Are book scripts or remote resources loaded?
No. Book XML/XHTML is parsed to extract literal text. No book nodes are inserted into the website; scripts, styles, embedded objects and iframe content are omitted. Image alternative text can appear in brackets.
Which EPUB files work?
Unencrypted books with a standard ZIP of at most200 entries, UTF-8 package/XML and well-formed XHTML chapter resources ending .xhtml/.html/.htm. ZIP64, encrypted/obfuscated resources and external XML declarations are unsupported. This supported subset can reject otherwise valid books.
What are the size limits?
EPUB up to 10 MiB, up to 100 primary spine entries, XML/XHTML resources up to 1 MiB each and 8 MiB combined, and extracted text up to two million characters. Archive paths, expansion sizes and extracted resource CRC32 values are checked.
Can I open a DRM-protected book?
No. ZIP-encrypted entries or a META-INF/encryption.xml declaration are rejected. This also excludes books declaring obfuscated fonts, even if their text is unencrypted.
Does search highlight matches?
No. It performs literal case-insensitive text search and lists matching chapters with a snippet and count. Selecting a result opens its chapter at the top.
Are chapter positions saved?
Positions are kept temporarily while switching chapters in the current book. Clear, opening another book or leaving resets them. No book or position history is stored on the device.
What do TXT and JSON downloads contain?
Chapter TXT contains its extracted body text. Whole-book TXT includes title/author and numbered chapter headings. JSON lists metadata, chapter resource paths and text lengths, without embedding the book text or original EPUB.
Is my ebook uploaded?
No processing upload or saved ebook history is needed. Archive extraction and text parsing run locally. Website ads and analytics follow the privacy information.
