How do I find 15% of 240?

Choose A% of B, enter 15 and 240. The result is 36.

How do I find the percentage increase?

Choose percentage change and enter the original and new values. The calculation divides the difference by the absolute original value.

Can I calculate a decrease?

Yes. A smaller ending value produces negative percentage change. In adjustment mode, enter a negative percentage.

Why does a zero starting value cause an error?

Percentage change divides by the original value, so a zero denominator has no finite percentage result.

How are negative starting values treated?

Change uses the absolute original value as the denominator. This convention is shown in the calculation.
