Sanitized HTML source

Using Markdown Editor & Preview

Draft notes, documentation or a README in Markdown and check the rendered layout beside the source. The preview uses a local parser and sanitization, with no document uploads.

  1. Type Markdown, load the example or open a UTF-8 .md/.txt file. Select text and use syntax buttons to insert emphasis, a heading, list item, link or code block. Undo tool action restores the last toolbar, example, file or clear action.
  2. Leave live preview enabled or click Update preview. Choose light/dark preview styling or enable single line breaks. On mobile, choose editor, preview or both.
  3. Copy or download the Markdown source, or export current sanitized HTML. Expand Sanitized HTML source for manual copying. Preview links are inactive and images are text placeholders; permitted links work in exported HTML.

Questions & answers

Which Markdown features are supported?

The parser supports headings, emphasis, blockquotes, lists, GFM task lists and tables, links and fenced code. Code is shown without syntax highlighting. Footnotes, math and custom extensions are not included.

Why are images placeholders and links inactive?

Image URLs are shown as text instead of being fetched. Preview link destinations are removed so clicks cannot navigate the preview. Allowed links remain in exported HTML. Images stay placeholders in HTML exports as well.

Can I embed HTML, scripts or custom styles?

Raw HTML is displayed as text. The rendered output also passes through a restricted sanitizer, and the preview uses a sandboxed frame with a restrictive content policy. Scripts, embedded pages, forms and user styles are not included.

Why does a single line break not create a new line?

Standard Markdown treats a single line break inside a paragraph as a space. Use a blank line for a new paragraph, or enable Single line breaks for a visible break.

Does dark preview styling change my exported HTML?

No. Preview theme changes only the on-page display. The downloaded HTML document uses the light document style. Copy HTML fragment gives the sanitized body content without the document wrapper or styles.

Are drafts saved or uploaded?

No. Content stays in page memory; it is not automatically saved or uploaded. Download your .md file to keep your work. Opening a local file reads it without uploading it.

What does Undo tool action restore?

It restores the source immediately before the latest syntax insertion, example load, file load or clear action. It is a single-step tool history; normal typing uses your browser editor’s undo behavior.

What limits apply to files and rendering?

Files must be valid UTF-8 and at most 1 MB. Source is limited to 100,000 UTF-16 units and rendered HTML to 250,000 characters. The parsing worker stops after eight seconds. Source exports remain available if preview rendering fails; HTML exports require a current sanitized result.
