Questions & answers
Does decoding verify the token?
No. A decoded payload can be forged. This tool never verifies a signature, issuer or audience and must not be used to make authentication decisions.
Can it read encrypted tokens?
No. This supports three-part compact JWTs with Base64url JSON header and claims, not five-part encrypted JWE tokens or unencoded payloads.
How are expiration dates interpreted?
exp, nbf and iat are interpreted as NumericDate seconds since the Unix epoch. UTC dates use your device clock for the expiry note; the tool does not apply server policy or clock tolerance.
Are tokens saved?
The tool does not automatically save tokens or send them to its backend. Because this website displays third-party ads, use demonstrations or redacted tokens rather than live secrets. Input is limited to 64,000 characters.
