Source files stay unchanged · no automatic drafts

Finds your supplied terms and aliases in DOCX paragraphs. Exports an editorial index with document and paragraph references, not final printed page numbers. Regex-style patterns are not executed; cross-references and context still need editorial review.

Using Book Index Term Organizer

Mark supplied terms and aliases; group references; export an editorial index.

  1. Open up to eight unsigned DOCX documents, or try the two-document worked example. A saved review project can be reopened with the matching original files.
  2. Use the document navigator, search and review filter to inspect your canonical terms, aliases and contextual paragraph references.
  3. Compare the original and staged structural previews. Undo/redo is available for review decisions; no operation writes to your original source files.
  4. Use Export to download an Excel/CSV review matrix, self-contained report or editable Word index. Save the review project to continue later.

Example

The worked example includes two real DOCX documents with heading/body styles, numbered lists, classic comments, tracked text changes, a broken reference, linked section headers, language tags, embedded artwork and metadata.

Questions & answers

Does this edit the original DOCX?

No. The original files are used for analysis; decisions and newly generated indexes/reports are separate exports.

Is the preview identical to Microsoft Word?

No. It is a structural reading preview. Microsoft Word controls exact pagination, complex tables/drawings, fonts and field results. Open the exported file in your document editor for the final check.

What are the limits and supported features?

Finds your supplied terms and aliases in DOCX paragraphs. Exports an editorial index with document and paragraph references, not final printed page numbers. Regex-style patterns are not executed; cross-references and context still need editorial review. Use standard transitional DOCX files up to 25 MiB each and 80 MiB for the set, with at most 12,000 paragraphs per file. Macros, encryption and signed packages are unsupported.

How do I save and reopen my work?

Save review decisions as JSON, then reopen that project with the same original DOCX files. Source hashes prevent applying a project to a different document. No document contents are embedded in the review project or automatically saved in browser storage. Public pages retain approved advertising and optional analytics.
